Deformed tail

Deformity of the tail is an age related change in some rabbits. Misalignment of the vertebrae alters the position of the genital mound in which the anus and entrance to the urethra are contained. The direction of urine flow may be altered so urine either dribbles out or is directed towards the inside of the thigh. The end result is an inflamed, painful, infected area of skin. Careful corrective surgery is rewarding and satisfactory.
