It shows the position of the nasolacrimal duct (NLD) and the relationship of the apex of the first upper cheek tooth with the maxillary sinus. It also shows the normal occlusal relationship of the cheek teeth with the lingual edges of the maxillary teeth resting against the buccal edges of the mandibular teeth.
