Image ECMAScript program Nasal foreign bodies
Nasal foreign bodies are not unusual in rabbits. The typical history is of sudden onset sneezing and a unilateral nasal discharge. Occasionally an abscess over the nose will form. Careful examination of the nares may show the tip of a piece of hay or a plug of material. In some rabbits it is possible to pull out the foreign body during the consultation. Other cases may require anaesthesia and even endoscopy.

Image Exophthalmos
Bilateral exophthalmos is a feature of rabbits with impaired venous return to the heart. The eyes tend to bulge more if the rabbit is positioned with its head lower than the heart. Thymoma or thymic lymphoma is a common reason for this condition but it also happen in rabbits with congestive heart failure or other mediastinal masses such as abscesses.
